Puck scoffed. “No, I’m not.  I’m making a promise to you.” His hand dug into the pocket on his jacket, his fingers hooking on the ring he’d put inside there. He cleared his throat, bending down on one knee and looking up at her seriously.

“Quinn Fabray, we’ve had our ups and downs, and we went through tons of shit last year, and I know that I’ve done so many things to not deserve your trust anymore, but I’m asking for it.  I’m here, on my knees, asking for one more chance to make this work.”

Quinn took a deep breath, her hands finding themselves on her hips, almost as if the pose was a defense mechanism; a way for her to feel in control and less vulnerable.

“Well, I never thought I’d see the day Noah Puckerman would be on his knees, asking for forgiveness.”

He scoffed playfully. “Yeah, well don’t get used to it.”

She smiled gently.  “I-,” she hesitated, looking down at her hands.  “I never really got over you, Puck. I mean, I know I made it seem as if I didn’t care anymore, but I did.  I really, really did.” She looked into his eyes.  “If you’re willing to try again, then so am I.”

Puck smiled.  “I am,” he said softly. 

There was a comfortable silence before she straightened up.  “Well, then.  You can start winning my heart again this Saturday.  Breadsticks at eight?” She sent him a flirtatious gaze before turning and walking away, not waiting for a response.

Puck slowly stood, watching her saunter out of the library.  He was going to make this work and nothing was going to get in this badass’ way.
